Is it Human and is it a Resource?

Ask around Independence about Linda Gray-Smith and you'll hear an almost unanimous opinion:  awful.
Ask around Chillocothe, where Linda G-S was superintendent, and you'll hear an almost unanimous opinion: awful.

So how did she find her way to Independence?

We've heard that she only has a year or two left here in Independence.  Then she'll retire.  So typical of how we work.  Keep dysfunctional administrators around so that they can make their 3 highest years and retire with the full hog!!!!  Legislators complain about teachers sucking the public teat with our pension system - but the real abusers of this system are the administrators especially superintendents.

Someone here in Independence is doing Linda G-S a favor by hiring her.  Just to finish up so that she can get her full retirement.  She used to be a principal up in Lamoni - so maybe there is some Community of Christ or Graceland connection.  Or there is just a superintendent connection.

Below are some links.  Random - I know.

  1. Linda Gray Smith must go! She is a horrible person with no regard for human value. She must not have feelings because her action sure show she is cold-hearted.

  2. First of all, I love your blog! Such valuable and true information with a wonderful sense of humor! I have so much to say about how LGS conducts herself, I don't have enough room. I agree that she must go and what about Cindy Grant? Has anyone heard about how she conducted herself when she was a principal. Again, let's shuffle the horrible administrator into Central Office to keep peace. Not to mention she is the one to handle sexual harassment cases and has messed with people in career ladder this year.Gross! What does it take to get rid of someone?!

  3. LGS got run out of Chillocothe (sp?) after buying a bunch of FEMA trailers from the Louisiana hurricane - and they were pieces of junk - full of mold. They (Chill school board) wouldn't even let her finish her term. She probably had graduate classes with Hurl or something.

Also - what's the 3 year thing have to do with retirement? Don't you get paid retirement based on how much you work and put into the retirement system?

    3. Hard work shouldn't involved treating employees like they are dirt or second-class citizens. When you make over $130,000 a year, one would hope someone in HR would have some dignity and respect for human worth. Which, with having interactions with LGS she has neither, so she is wasting tax payer dollars with her salary and destroying what was once a good school district.

  5. Is anyone noticing the mass exodus of teachers and administrators? Ask around in your building, see who is leaving and why. Most point the finger back to central office and their micromanaging!

  6. You know she is bad when superintendents in northern Missouri state "She has no business in public education." I have also heard that when she went to Chillicothe she wanted to put all the teachers on PIP's and the administrators fought back. She then went to all the building administrators when the district was in the middle of a bond issue campaign and asked each one for $100.00 cash in support of the bond issue. Those that said no to her soon found themselves running out of Chillicothe.

  7. Typical. The district did the same with Jason Dial. He was a worthless principle at Chrisman, and was everyone knew it, so what'd they do? Brought him to CO. Where might I add he was a worthless POS. Good riddance to bad rubbish!

  8. Everyone in this blog needs to go out and get there own education. Look at you all..No true facts, just playing follow the leader. Dr. Smith is a blessing to the town of Indep. If all of you would get your own head out of your ass then the world would be a better place.

    1. Wow..you really think she is a blessing! From my perspective, when you get FIRED as a superintendent, then something is seriously wrong with you! She had already resigned and was then fired by her own school board. Look at the mass exodus of people, do you not think she had something to do with this? Turnover in staff costs the tax payers money and they need to be asking why so many teachers and principals are leaving. LGS doesn't even give a 'thank you for your service' in an exit interview. Its more of a bother to her than make you feel like a valued employee.

    2. Exit interview? What's that. I received no notice or warning, cause or reason, or exit interview when I was terminated from the ISD on the last day of school, 2015. Dr. Linda Gray Smith and Cindy Grant were both in HR.
