A good job if you can get it

What Central Office administrator was sent to North Carolina on the top-security mission to administer the MAP tests to our students at Mindstream Academy?  (Yes - we have another group of students at the "camp".)  Several days - several tests - several rounds of golf.  Oops, did we say that?  Just assuming.  Hope the weather is nice out there.

Just a reminder:  Your public tax dollars are going to a private school in another state.  Nice.

  1. Okay - not the beggest fan of the district, but if someone wants to play golf after a day of giving tests while on a business trip - so be it. I don't think he/she handed the tests out and said "back in a bit - gotta play 18."

Now, my tax dollars going to a private school in a different state - you have my attention there. Our school board members are a bunch of bobble heads to Henson.

  2. Focus on the first problem with this. Healthy habits begin at home, if there is a serious issue you go to a dr. I am proud of these kids for their hard work but seriously hin son doesn't want obese kids in his school! So much that he has banned PTA from selling cookie dough, and snacks. This has caused a lot of school programs and activities to be cancelled, PTA also helps pay for field trips, and cost of bus transportation. He also has tried to ban cupcakes/cookies for birthdays and other things. He had all soda taken out of teachers vending machines, as an adult they have the right to choose not him. I as a parent will decide if my child gets a cookie. Who paid for this camp for these kids? Who paid for that gym at central office? Maybe instead of all these extras money would be better spent on books and teacher resources. As for herl, I see a puppet! They all make me sick, and this school board oh, Dr.hi son we don't need to know, we approve everything you want, and I heard that from a board member myself. Throw them all out, let's get back to running the district like a school district!

  3. I was disgusted with this program from the start, but when I found out that students were receiving letters at home to "recruit" for Mindstream, my heart broke a little for those kids who received a letter stating the fact that they were obese and ISD (who received national attention for this, of course)wanted them to sign up for "fat camp" (that was a parent's quote about her child's letter). If their self-esteem wasn't already low, that letter certainly put the nail in the coffin. The district is here to educate. They have no business meddling in this, and the taxpayers money shouldn't be covering the cost either.

On the same token, I know some teachers in other buildings who were told they were not allowed to bring fast food into the building. because that was not being a good role model to the kids. I would have gone out to McDonald's twice a day if our principal had thrown that one at us.
