  1. Why do we need all this administration? Do other districts our size or larger have all these positions?

  2. Our central office is actually one of the smallest around based on size. This does represent a bare bones central office. With that said, it does seem to be growing a bit over the last few years, but in my opinion it was a little too bare bones before.

School districts are extremely complicated systems - curriculum, instruction, assessment, special education, building and grounds, finance, etc. Then throw in the politics of it all, and it gets really interesting.

A good superintendent has no surprises at board meetings from anything on the agenda. All of the details have been worked out politically with his cabinet and board prior to public consumption. This is true everywhere except the public comment section of the meetings. Dr. Hinson through the board and Miller have really controlled this portion to an extreme in my opinion, and will continue to do so until board members are made aware of this practice to filter public opinion or uncomfortable questions from them. Don't even get me started on administrator and teacher opinions - we ARE NOT to contact board members directly or suffer serious consequences professionally.

I have a challenge for the board of education who represents our community: do a survey of your own design regarding the current culture and climate of our district. Ask about the systems I mentioned above and others. Ask about the district leadership. They will discover many misunderstandings that can be cleared up as well as some other things that REALLY need to be CLEANED up. When is the last time this or anything like this has happened?

  3. Do we really need three people to replace one Jason dial?? Lots of directors added through the years too.. Public safety, really?? Health and wellness...really?? Energy... Really? At his building meetings, staff were told to turn off the lights when out of their rooms. Duh. Someone is being Paid big bucks for common sense practices.
Do we really need all these athletic directors?? Don Coffman managed everything by himself for all of his years. Three people in public relations??

    1. Notice that none of the above positions quoted have anything to do with improving instruction or student learning - NONE (other than the replacement of Dial).
