The Applause Line

What if an Opening Convocation was held but no one clapped?

Not likely to happen but consider the purpose of applause.  It is to show appreciation, support, or agreement.

Do you feel appreciated and treated like a professional? Do you support the decisions, climate, culture, or directions of the district?  Do agree with what is being said?

Or are you just being polite?

  1. Here's a math problem...

If David G. had to stand and clap his hands once for every dollar he is earning at THS more than what he made in Nebraska, could we get rid of him for a week or two while he finishes this activity?

Oh, and would he have to look this difference up, or has he already done these calculations...over and over...on his way out of a three year retirement...

    1. Sounds like he has a 3 year contract but he'll need 5 years to vest in the retirement system.

  2. He is probably being groomed to move on to central office. Seems like he might fit in there pretty well. He really does love himself.

  3. I do feel appreciated and treated like a professional by Central Office staff. You have a problem with that? Yuo know why? Because I do a good job and don't write blogs trashing the school district. Too bad you left ISD, going to miss you tomorrow..... NOT!

    1. It is your choice to come to this blog - which you have done so several times already. We'll see you tomorrow.

    2. There is a big difference between "trashing" and telling the truth. From my perspective, the goal of the blog is to help point out some of the things that are going on in the District that, if addressed appropriatedly by administration and the school board, could increase morale and have a positive impact on students. When you say, "Because I do a good job"... you are inferring that all people who do good jobs are treated with respect. I know that not to be the case. The fact that you are not aware of that leads me to believe that you may be wearing rose colored glasses with aspirations to one day work at CO. I chose to stay in the district this year for personal reasons, but have talked to a few who have left and their experiences are night and day different than what we have been experiencing these last few days. There is no perfect educational work environment, but no one should have to work in a job where they are admonished for things that make no sense and are fearful to voice their opinion.

  4. Why do the haters keep coming back to this blog?? How about they go start their own blog called "Love the ISD" & stop bothering us here. We won't bother their blog and they won't have to read ours. Thanks to freedom of speech everyone can have an outlet.

  5. Personally, I have rarely feel respected or even trusted by ISD.

  6. As a teacher that learned the ropes for more than 5 years in KCMOSD, I gotta tell you that despite what we are encountering here, it is in no way as bad as the politics, posturing, and demands placed on me in KCMOSD. But I do have to admit that the behaviors witnessed from earlier this year, Feb 2013, to where we are currently has felt more like KCMOSD that it has any other time. However, when you are desperate for test scores to go up with the change in economic status that we have in ISD, it is not surprising to encounter similarities in CO behaviors. I was extremely concerned when I saw our MSIP V breakdown and I am committed to doing my part to get ISD back up to the status it deserves. Luckily, I am getting the support I need at my building, both from my admin. and fellow teachers. We are professional and determined to do what is possible to the best of our ability.
